Here is some shocking news for HTC fans, according to FORTUNE CNN, Mobile giant HTC could face an import ban in U.S. depending on the outcome over 2 patents appeal presented by another giant and innovative company "APPLE".
Supposedly a case has been filed by apple over its 2 patented application, on 14 Dec the final verdict will be ruled down to HTC appeals.. HTC could suffer from this allegation complain, which might could possible ban the company to import any of its android product to U.S. market which is also a major target market for the company, and also shirk its market capturing by 25 % to 0%. To make matter worse the company will be facing the trails just before holidays when sales would be at highest peak of the year
According to Fortune CNN has two patents in question which are below:-
U.S. Patent No, 5,946,647 :- "system and method for performing an action on structure in computer generated data ( in its complaint Apple provided eg. as the recognition of phone numbers, post office, addresses and dates and the ability to perform related action with that data. One eg. is that the system may receive data that includes phone numbers , highlight for its user, and then in response to a user interaction with the highlighted text, offer the user the choice of making phone call to a number..
U.S. Patent No, 6,343,263 :- On a real time signal processing system for serial transmitted data ( while this sound like a sheer hard ware patent, there are many references in its logical connections, drivers and programs.. In its complaint Apple quoted " relates generally to providing programming abstraction layers for real time processing application".
If this ruling came through for apple, it will defienlty impact the android market, Almost every other Android manufacturer could be targeted for the similar suits as now a days just about everybody is hooked to android devices. Samsung has been dealing this sort of thing with Apple over Europe market. Where series of Galaxy Tablets were banned from import there although Samsung immedetly got around with few minor design changes.
For now there is no solid base to make judgement on whose side the rulling will favour on 14th Dec. But if you wanna treat yourself with HTC Android phone, i would suggest it that you do it before the deadline of the rulling... Better to be safe than sorry...
